Corneal Reshaping Treatment (CRT)
Also known as Orthokeratology

Dr. Winter is certified to fit specially designed contact lenses for the nonsurgical elimination of nearsightedness and astigmatism.

CRT may be performed on children and adults with similar results as LASIK surgery.  The procedure is safe, effective, and reversible.

Contact lenses are fit in such a way as to gently reshape the front surface of the eye (cornea) so that clear vision is obtained.  These lenses are usually worn at night only and improve the eyesight without eyeglasses or contact lenses the next day.

Since the nearsightedness does not have to be stable as it does for LASIK surgery, this procedure can be performed on children as well as adults.  All patients are carefully screened before the CRT is recommended.  Corneal reshaping works very rapidly and most patients who pass our screening tests experience restoration of eyesight to 20/20 in a matter of days.
